A beam of light pierces through the window and beckons me
to come
As I draw back the curtains, I place my hands on the frozen panes
Slowly wiping away the frost, a smile emerges from my lips
Through the glass I spy delicate snowflakes swirling gently in the breeze
As if dancing to a song no human can hear
Each one looking for the perfect spot to rest
As the ground below is painted white
Memories of winter days long since past play back in my mind
Snowball fights and snow covered trees
Catching snowflakes on my tongue
Racing downhill on toboggans
And skating on the ice-covered pond
Snowmen with long wool scarves
And snow angels with broad wings
All coming to the end as dark encroaches
Calling us in for the night
But our snow-soaked mittens and frozen toes
Would quickly be defrosted by the warmth of good friends
A cup of hot chocolate and the vision of more winter days to come
