“The Night”
Darkness drifts gently o’er the town
Slowly washing the daylight away
Streetlights illuminate a barren sidewalk
As it come to the close of the day
A story before bedtime
Or a cup of chamomile tea
Inviting weary souls to rest
Daytime sounds begin to fade
While a baby slumbers on daddy’s chest
Lovers bathe in a full moon’s glow
Stars twinkle brightly up above
As countless wishes are sent up
By those in search of love
Tomorrow’s just a fantasy
‘Til sunlight burns the night away
Birds chirp rejoicing
Another dawning of a day
