“I Wonder”

I stand alone and stare upon
A night so clear and bright
And wonder if just maybe too
You’re seeing the same sight

Are you staring at my star
And wishing you’ll find me
Or are you with someone tonight
Unaware you’ll soon be free

I wonder if you think of me
As much as I do you
And if you’re close or far away
And if you’re eyes are blue

I know you’re out there somewhere
Although we’ve yet to meet
Will it be through our good friends
Or accidentally on the street

I wonder what you look like
And if we’ll know right from the start
That we were meant to capture
Each other’s loving heart

Will you like my favorite foods
Or have the same pet peeves
Will you like cold, rainy nights
Or to play in fallen leaves

I wonder of your dreams and goals
And if they’re close to mine
Wouldn’t it be wonderful
If we could help each other shine

I wonder what you’re doing now
And hoping it’s much fun
Watching an old classic film
Or maybe playing in the sun

I wonder who’s been in your life
Who’s made you who you are
Did they give you all you need
Or leave you with a scar

Will you like my favorite songs
And want to dance with me
Will you promise not to laugh
If I can’t sing along in key

I wonder if the day will come
I’ll look upwards to the sky
Just to look back down again
To see you standing by my side
