“Dancing with Santa”
It was Christmas Eve night
and all were asleep
When I crept down the stairs in hopes of a peek
Of Santa’s descent through our brick fireplace
With toys just for me wrapped up with ribbons and lace
My eyes were aglow with excited delight
When his boots and red suit appeared in my sight
He placed all of the presents under the tree
Then turned around quickly and smiled at me
He said I have something for you I know you’ll adore
He gave me a gift and then smiled once more
I tore off the paper and got the ribbon untied
It was a small music box with a ballerina inside
As the music started to play, Santa asked for a dance
Then I stood on his feet and we began to prance
Santa spun me around as I giggled with glee
We danced all through the house, just Santa and Me
We danced ‘round the tree with its twinkling lights
How I loved dancing with Santa on that Christmas Eve night
As we danced to the music that little box made
The ballerina danced with us for as long as it played
She danced quickly as she twirled to her song
But Santa began to grow tired and it wasn’t too long
Before the time came when Santa said he must leave
As he started to turn, I grabbed onto his sleeve
I begged him to stay and I started to cry
“Just one more dance then,” he said with a sigh
Santa spun me around as I giggled with glee
We danced all through the house, just Santa and Me
Then Santa said firmly: You must now go to bed
Tomorrow is Christmas; there’s much fun still ahead
As I went up the stairs, I knew I’d always remember
Dancing with Santa that special night in December
