Thank you so much your interest in Brickfest Breakfast 2006!
As an avid fan of Jim's for many years, I have enjoyed the music and every opportunity I've had to meet with him in person. But I've also enjoyed meeting other fans at his shows.
Over the years, I have helped organize Dave Koz's, "Kozfest." Some of you probably know Dave as the smooth jazz saxophonist who appeared on Jim's first PBS special playing "Partners in Crime."
For the last nine years, Dave's fans have gathered for a delicious champagne Sunday brunch at a Los Angeles area restaurant while raising funds for a charity near and dear to Dave's heart, the American Heart Association. (Dave's dad, Dr. Norman Koz, passed away from a heart attack several years ago.) For the first time last year we had a raffle, which added to the kitty. In the end, we wound up raising over $1,000. And while Dave is never guaranteed to attend the event, he usually does -- much to the delight of all of us. We present him with a mock check of our donations.
For some time, I have wanted to have a similar event for Jim and his fans. When I proposed the idea to Jim in the Bob Hope Airport (we were both flying to Sacramento for his Christmas show last year), he loved the idea. He seemed a bit skeptical, though, that he had enough fans in LA (or willing to come to LA) to make it worth while. Please help me prove him wrong - Spread the word to any Brickman fans you know, especially if they're in the Southern California area - or looking for an excuse to come here.
I know that if we can round up enough people, we'll have a great breakfast while benefiting the victims of Hurricane Katrina, Rita and Wilma through the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief - an organization Jim supports.
Please know I am NOT asking anyone to send money to me. When the ball starts rolling, I will ask people to donate directly to the Red Cross in the name of "Brickfest Breakfast 2006." I only request you tell me how much you donated (no amount too small) so I can present a mock check to Jim during the breakfast.
So please if you're interested in more information, please contact me through brickfest@lynncjohnston.com or Yahoo Groups: fansofjim.
Thank you! I've included a few pictures from Dave's "Kozfest." I'm the blonde next to Dave. If you see me at any of Jim's show, please say hi!
